Explore NMAAHC’s “Searchable Museum”

Last week, the Office of Visitor Services and Volunteer Management hosted a Smithsonian Volunteer Enrichment program on the National Museum of African American History and Culture’s new Searchable Museum.

NMAAHC launched the Searchable Museum in November 2021 with the inaugural exhibition “Slavery & Freedom.” It has since published seven additional virtual exhibitions as well as multiple ‘constellations’ and stories.

The Searchable Museum is transforming the museum experience, reaching beyond the walls of NMAAHC’s physical space to provide a rich digital experience and bringing the museum’s evocative content and immersive in-person visitor experience into homes around the world.

We were joined by Jill Roberts, Program Manager, and Kamilah Stinnett, Museum Specialist, from NMAAHC as we took a deep dive into this amazing online resource.

If you were unable to join us for the live program (or want to watch it again), the recording is now available! As a reminder, we ask that you do not share our recordings outside of the Smithsonian as a courtesy to our presenters. Click the link below to access the program.
