The Smithsonian’s 2021 Annual Report

The year 2021 marked the longest closure of the Smithsonian in our history. To tell that story in the annual report, a local photographer Stephen Voss and others around the world documented the year in pictures as it unfolded.

Poet Jennifer Chang, a long-time Washington, D.C., resident and committee member of the Asian Pacific American Center Literature Festival wrote about what the year felt like. A special thanks to Lawrence-Minh Bùi Davis, poetry editor and curator for the Asian Pacific American Center; and Laura Hambleton, Elizabeth McNeely and Elise Walter, the Office of Advancement’s Communications and Marketing team.

Please note, the donor list and financials in the back of the book reflect FY21.

The printed books are in the mail to about 17,000 donors, prospect and volunteer leaders. Please view the digital version here or by visiting go.si.edu/smithsonian2021.
